What is it like to work with

Dana Rose Photography?

I always begin by getting to know more about my client.  I like to talk to you, get to know you a little and learn about what you want to accomplish with your photo session.

My Portrait Process:
The Pre-Session Phone Call and Planning
The Session
The Viewing and Ordering Session (in person or online)
Delivery
Your Long Term Plan

THE PRE-SESSION CONSULTATION

Pre Covid, I use to meet with people in person.  Since it is not always convenient or prospective parents worry about unnecessary exposure, I now give people a call.  I like to talk to prospective clients on the phone and gather a bunch of information about your family and your goals as well as walk you through how I do what I do!  Outdoor newborn sessions have become my passion and specialty, but they require a different approach and I like to explain what I do to ensure the safety and comfort of your baby.

After the phone call, I send an email highlighting a lot of the information so you can think it over.  While you are thinking everything over I develop an inspiration board and send it out with my follow up.  If you decided to book me, this is the beginning of our planning.

The Session

I charge a session fee that covers the creative planing, styling for newborns and children under 18 months, use of my props, wraps, bonnets and tiebacks, as well as any location permits and my time shooting and editing the images.  This fee does not include any digital or print products.  All digital and print products are bought separately after you have seen the images.

Newborn sessions are often 2-3 hours long, and maternity, milestone and family sessions are usually 45 minutes to an hour - except in the winter.  I design those to be quick!  High school senior sessions are often 2 hours as we often shoot in a couple different locations.

Please, stop by my facebook page to see my reviews straight from my customers!

THE VIEWING & ORDERING APPOINTMENT

I give clients the choice between viewing their photos online or meeting in person and viewing prints.  Sometimes people view the photos online then want to meet in person or on zoom to place orders.  I am happy to work with you to find the most comfortable way to view your photos.

Once you have seen your images, you will have the choice of purchasing one of three collections.  Each collection comes with a mix of digital images and the CHOICE of a product (my favorite product!) OR  a print credit where you can buy anything you would like from shop.

Delivery

I have put a lot of time and energy into picking unique, beautiful, heirloom quality products to offer.  Many of which are custom ordered and handmade, which means it can take as long as 6 -8 weeks from ordering to receiving your finished products.  But trust me, they are worth the wait!  My entire reclaimed wood line is handmade in Michigan, yay for shopping local!

As soon as your order is in my hands, I will call or email you and organize a time for pick up or delivery.

If you need help with instillation, I can refer you to someone to assist you.

A LONG-TERM PLAN

And that’s not the end! Many of my customers come to me for additional sessions.  As your babies grow and change, it will be time to update your portraits. So right from the start we plan, knowing that more may come. And we design around that! The next time you work with me, I’ll create art that coordinates with sessions past, so you can build on to what I’ve already created for you in a way that works and delights you year after year.
