What is it like to work with
Dana Rose Photography?
I always begin by getting to know more about my client and who I will be photographing. One question I always ask is:
"How do you plan to use the images?"
Knowing how you plan to use the images gives me great insight into your goals and expectations. It helps me create a session and shooting plan that I know will result in images you love.
My Portrait Process:
The Pre-Session Consultation
The Viewing and Ordering Session
Your Long Term Plan
THE PRE-SESSION CONSULTATION
First, I like to talk to prospective clients on the phone and gather a bunch of information about your family and your goals. This is not the Pre-Session Consultation, rather it is just me learning about what you like and want so that I can develop ideas to share with you at the Pre-Session Consultation.
When we meet in person, you have the chance to see my work and products. I share my vision for your session and we will discuss everything from the location, timing, what to wear, to how images will be displayed, color design, location planning and look and feel of the session. The Pre-Consultation answers your questions and helps me get to know your family and things I can do to help your session run smoothly. We will coordinate how we shoot the session with what the final outcome will be.
Your shoot does not happen by mistake, it starts with us getting to know each other and me understanding your goals, hopes and concerns and developing a plan specially for you.
I often hear prospective clients say they find shoots stressful. From wondering if the kids will behave, to agonizing over what to wear and convincing dad that it won’t be “that bad”...don't worry photos sessions are often not Dad's favorite thing to do. Do not worry about that. One thing I often hear from clients (even the dad's) is how surprised they are that the time went so fast, and how comfortable they were working with me. I work hard to make my sessions stress free and relaxed for clients.
Newborn sessions are often 2-3.5 hours long, and maternity, milestone and family sessions are usually 45 minutes to an hour - except in the winter. I design those to be quick! High school senior sessions are often 2 hours as we often shoot in a couple different locations.

THE VIEWING & ORDERING APPOINTMENT
The Viewing & Ordering Appointment is the first time you see your images as matted 5x7 prints! There is nothing like seeing and holding your images, and knowing exactly how they will look on paper.
This is the time when you will finalize your portrait order. I will help you sort through the images and make final decisions on what will look best with your decor. I’ll show you actual size and pair images together for a stunning album or wall gallery.
Try to pick a time where both mom and dad can be there...though if that is not possible, don't sweat it! By now you should know what you want to purchase (a large rustic framed print, a presentation box and some gift prints for the grandparents) and an idea of how much you plan to spend. This meeting is most often just about picking which images to use.
I have put a lot of time and energy into picking unique, beautiful, heirloom quality products to offer. Many of which are custom ordered and handmade, which means it can take as long as 6 -8 weeks from ordering to receiving your finished products. But trust me, they are worth the wait! My entire reclaimed wood line is handmade in Michigan, yay for shopping local!
As soon as your order is in my hands, I will call or email you and organize a time for pick up or delivery.
If you need help with instillation, I can refer you to someone to assist you....and all my wall galleries (groupings of 3 or more wall art pieces) come with FREE INSTALLATION!
A LONG-TERM PLAN
And that’s not the end! Many of my customers come to me for additional sessions. As your babies grow and change, it will be time to update your portraits. So right from the start we plan, knowing that more may come. And we design around that! The next time you work with me, I’ll create art that coordinates with sessions past, so you can build on to what I’ve already created for you in a way that works and delights you year after year.
